Listing Standards and Verification Policy

These standards explain who may be listed, what information is expected, how VOB Finder may review Veteran-owned status, and why a listing may be edited, rejected, suspended, or removed.

Basic Eligibility

• The business must be legitimate and actively operating, preparing to launch, or clearly identified as temporarily closed.
• The business must be owned and controlled by one or more qualifying Veterans to the extent represented in the listing.
• The submitter must be authorized to represent the business or provide information that can reasonably be confirmed.
• The listing must comply with applicable law and VOB Finder content standards.

Veteran-Owned Representation

Businesses must truthfully describe Veteran ownership. VOB Finder may request self-attestation, military-service information, ownership information, government or third-party certification, public-record support, or other documentation reasonably related to the claim.

Unless expressly stated, VOB Finder verification is not government certification and should not be represented as such.

Required Listing Quality

• Accurate business name, category, description, service area, and current contact method.
• No misleading claims, fabricated reviews, keyword stuffing, impersonation, or deceptive redirects.
• No unauthorized use of another party’s logo, photographs, copyrighted material, or trademarks.
• No unlawful, threatening, hateful, harassing, defamatory, sexually exploitative, or fraudulent content.
• Regulated products or services must comply with applicable licensing, disclosure, and advertising requirements.

Review and Status

VOB Finder may use statuses such as submitted, under review, approved, verified, needs update, suspended, rejected, or removed. We may contact the business, check public sources, request clarification, or ask for updated information before or after publication.

Corrections, Claims, and Ownership Changes

A business owner may claim an existing listing or request a correction. We may require reasonable proof of identity, authority, ownership, or control. Businesses must promptly report material changes, including closure, sale, loss of Veteran ownership, changed contact information, or expired credentials.

Removal or Suspension

A listing may be suspended or removed for inaccurate information, inability to verify material claims, repeated complaints, unresolved ownership disputes, unlawful conduct, nonpayment where payment is required, security concerns, policy violations, business closure, or conduct that may harm users or the integrity of the directory.

Review, approval, verification, or publication does not guarantee business quality, customer satisfaction, legal compliance, or continued eligibility.
